The Story Behind Liggett Hollow Designs

If you had told me a few years ago that I’d be running my own custom shirt and decal shop out of Du Bois, Illinois, I probably would have laughed. What started as a hobby—me, a Cricut, a few sheets of vinyl, and way too many ideas—has grown into Liggett Hollow Designs, a small business creating personalized gifts in Southern Illinois and beyond. And honestly? This is just the beginning.

How It All Began

I’ve always loved creating things, but at first it was just for fun. I made shirts for friends, vinyl decals for family, and little projects to keep my hands busy after long shifts at work. Then someone asked if I could make one for them, and then another person, and before I knew it, people were ordering from me regularly.

That was the spark. The moment I realized this could be more than a hobby—it could actually be a business where I could share my love for custom T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, magnets, and more with others.

Growing Pains and Small Wins

Starting a business is never perfect. I was learning as I went, balancing late nights at the table with my day job, figuring out how to price materials, and tackling new skills like sublimation printing and building my own Shopify site. Not every shirt or decal came out right the first time, but every challenge taught me something.

And with each lesson came a win: designing custom sports gear for local schools, delivering group orders to nursing homes, or seeing a friend proudly wear one of my hoodies. Those small moments built the foundation for what I want Liggett Hollow Designs to become.

Liggett Hollow Designs isn’t just about shirts or decals—it’s about being a go-to gift shop for personalized apparel and keepsakes. I want this brand to feel like homegrown creativity with a Southern Illinois twist.
